Public Talk at Pecha_Kucha – Thursday 31 May 2007, 7pm

On invitation of the PHM publicity department, Chris Bowman is speaking on the current Beta_Space installation, |GEO|Landscapes0.1, at the Sydney Installation of Pecha Kucha. Pecha Kucha is a global forum where designers come together to network and catch up on what's new and current in practice. Location: the basement bar of the Commercial Travellers Association located under the big mushroom in Martin's Place at Castlereagh Street (19-29 Martin Pl, Sydney).

Evaluation and Future Focus

Both a general audience, gleaned from museum visitors, and an expert audience, invited to Beta¬_space, will partake in an evaluation of |GEO| Landscapes0.1.  This will involve user-trials where researchers will be on hand to test the interfaces and video content, measuring audience responses to issues such as navigation and immersion. The effectiveness of these graphic representations of space and time will be closely evaluated and the information used for phase .02 development.

The next stage development of the work proposed for 2007-2008 seeks to combine location based GPS (Global Positioning System) and video enabled mobile technology with high performance broadband, leading-edge web and public interactive display design. In so doing, the creators hope to gain greater understanding of the design, social and technical challenges required to create an art experience across two or more public spaces.
