 Drawing from the work of David Rokeby, The Musicians is an early prototype, interactive artwork that utilizes cinematography and sound to engage audiences via invisible touch pads. Users are encouraged to play notes or compose music by directing the two professional musicians as they jam filmically, the audience members directly impacting the artwork via their movements.

Julia Burns will speak on the process of creating interactive art as a practising artist in Sydney with specific reference to The Musicians.

Thursday 31 May, 2007 – Creativity and Cognition Studios (1pm-2pm)
Julia Burns will demonstrate work developed by Ardrian Hardjono, with
he assistance of Robin Chow, to the research group at CSS. After a brief presentation, the group will partake in an initial test “play” of the system, with the opportunity to offer feedback.
